My 50th Birthday - Part 2

My day started with my eldest daughter, Elle, and my youngest grandson, Brayden, dropping in for a quick visit before she went to work.  Elle gave my a beautiful bunch of flowers and some tasty chocolates.. It was so good to see them and their pressies were very welcomed.. Thanks Elle.xx
Hubby then made me a delicious breakfast, for me to have in bed..umm arhhh - crumbs in the bed... I could get used to this kind of treatment..  Thanks Hubby..xx
Wayne and my middle son, James, gave me three red charms for my Pandora Bracelet...they are just perfect, thank you sweethearts...xxx
Youngest daughter gave me a very cuddly snuggle rug and some very delicious smelling creams...
Thank you darling..xxx
A bit of left over cake, from yesterdays outing with The Tuesday Girls, for morning tea..thanks again girls..xxx
My mum and her husband drove down from Hervey Bay to spend my birthday with me and to let me know just how much pain she was in - some 50 years ago - during my birth..lol  We spent the evening chatting and watching some home movies.. Dinner consisted of nibblies and my birthday choccies..
Thanks for coming down mum..xxx
Having had such a late night last night, we decided to have our morning coffee in the yard, watching our poultry...   I love watching our geese, they are such curious creatures...always checking out what anyone is doing..
I'm not sure who is watching who or what she is thinking right this minute..  lol
On Saturday my mother decided I had to take her up to Mt Tamborine to see the Birchgrove Nursery that I am always mentioning - usually after a trip there with The Tuesday Girls..
So Hubby, Mum, Graham and myself took a drive up there.   They loved it, mum checked out ALL the flowers and Graham checked out all the trinkets..
The food case was looking mighty fine and we decided to stay for lunch.  I had the chicken and mushroom filo..
Hubby and I split desert - I was feeling a little full after the filo.  We had the lime and pistachio cheesecake - oh my...yumm...
Sneaking up on mum taking photos of the flowers..
 Sprung...

Upon our return home, I walked in on this...
My kids, husband, mother and Graham had planned a surprise party for me.. and I had NO IDEA..
Apparently they had been planning it for ages and had been having secret meetings and phone calls behind my back..  My husband stated that he felt like he was having an affair because that's how guilty he had been feeling by going behind my back to plan the surprise... Elle said she felt so guilty that she had to drop by early on Wednesday to bring me flowers before work and my youngest son's girlfriend said she felt no guilt at all..   I don't know how they pulled it off..I am not trusting any of them again...lol
We had sushi and cheese platters, fruit platters, cake and subway rolls..  oh and Mascato and Blue Lagoons - I think someone kept topping up my glass..
I wished I took some photo's for this post but I think I was in a state of shock for most of it..  I did get this photo of my birthday cake..  Michaela knows how much I love her cooking and made my birthday cake - even if she was not feeling guilty about surprising me...  Totally delicious... Thanks Mikka and Jaxon..xxx
Now you may be wondering if I bought anything at Birchgrove Nursery - of course I did... meet my new rose...

 Just too pretty...
I took a photo of these because my daughter gave them to me for Christmas and I thought they warranted a photo - matching purple gloves and clippers... too pretty..  thanks Elle..
Thank you everyone for all your birthday wishes, I have had a fabulous birthday and have felt the love from all of you.. To my family - I will be suspicious about all your doings from now on..lol
It has been a very tiring and busy week but a great one.
Love you all..

My 50th Birthday - Part 1

My 50th is going to be celebrated in many different ways - some treats will be small and some quite large.  You all know that I received an early birthday present from my hubby - my new kayak.  I had such a ball playing with this and have found it very hard not to drag is out lately as Jimboomba has been suffering some high floods lately.  We have been safe, only losing power for a day or two but being so close to all this water and knowing how much fun kayaking is - well tempted as I might have been - I didn't want to end up on television being rescued for stupid behaviour..  so alas  I must wait a bit before I can play with this again...after all I am 50 now and should know better...
Treat 1 - my kayak...
Treat 2..  Having my breakfast using a gorgeous  egg cup set that Teresa gave me some years back.. I love this eff cup but tend to eat brekky on the run so don't bother to bring it out... so making an effort to slow down was something I want to do more...
Treat 3..  I have always wanted a wall-papered feature wall in my bedroom - and have had some wall paper put away in the cupboard for ages..  Anyhow, hubby decided to finish this task this week and I cant tell you how tickled pink I am with it..  Now I'm not going to show you my bedroom - that would seem kinda weird but I can show you a snippet or two...

Treat 4... This one is a biggie....My birthday is tomorrow but today is the day I got to spend with The Tuesday Girls. Firstly they came round with pressies and yes, I was spoilt to no end..
Every birthday girl needs a tiara and this one is my special one....
I also received a humungous "it's my birthday" badge...and a pretty pack or serviettes (the girls know I have a fascination with serviettes - there are some really pretty ones out there)..

I received two main presents from the girls - firstly there is a photo book full of some of the 'crazy' photo's of the antics that we girls have gotten up to in the past... I can't stop looking and laughing at the pictures - boy do we get up to some mischief.  Secondly, I was given a beautiful pair of red Swarovski earrings. . I have been looking for red earrings for ages but could never find any - well I don't know how they did it but they found a pair for me..  They are gorgeous and I wore them all day..  Thanks girls - love my pressies..
My gorgeous new earrings...
With pressies out the way it was time for a road trip.. We headed to Ipswich for the day - I love this town - there are some truly amazing old homes in this area.   We were going to do a little shopping at the Old Flour Mill but unfortunately they don't have any shops here anymore but it was still a lovely place to visit...  Such a gorgeous building - I hope someone does something with it..

After investigation this lovely old building it was off for a bit of morning tea.. The Nourish was across the road, so off we went..
I had the salted caramel slice but we all got something a different so we shared so we could taste a bit of everything..  yummo - it was delicious...
We went for a walk around the area, popping in and out of shops and having a giggle, but no one bought anything so I don't have any photos to show you..
I thought we were booked into somewhere else for lunch but apparently they were not open on a Tuesday and the girls decided not to tell me, but instead, take me somewhere else..
Our booking was at  "Behind Our Picket Fence" and I got such a surprise when we arrived here and not the original chosen destination..  The owner had placed a pink balloon over our table..
We tried taking a few selfies - this was, of course, a laugh in itself - more practice needed..lol
Food was delicious but very filling and I couldn't get through all of my Zucchini Fritters - my stomach was feeling extremely full and instead of  trying to force myself to finish it, I chose to reluctantly leave some behind..
It was then, that I found out the girls had arranged a birthday cake for me with the owners of the café..  Oh my - this cake was brought out to our table with candles it.. Oh dear - looks like I am going to have to make space for some cake.  Maybe there is room between the fritter and behind the caramel slice..lol   How yummy does this look - it is a chocolate mud cake decorated like a Barip cake..  You girls were so naughty - but I love it...

A pretty table too..
After waddling back to the car, Miss Helen drove us to The Quilter's Store at Salisbury.. The I may have done a little shopping...  maybe some pretty fabrics and a cute tin...
Well that's all for todays celebrations - I had the best day with the girls - thank you again girls, love you heaps...  Feeling very tired now and  still, several hours later, very full - but it was all worth it...
I wonder what tomorrow will bring...
catchya all later..

Tuesday Girls and Show n Tell

The Tuesday Girls came to my place today and I thought I should do a little bit of show n tell to prove that I have been creative lately...
So I dragged out some of my finished and not-so-finished projects to show them..
I have been collecting little boxes for a little while - not sure why - but sometimes they just look like a great size or shape and are pretty sturdy in how they are made.  You know the sort - usually
make-up comes in them, jewellery,  or in my case - some of my boxes came from a set of taps.  Any how here is a photo of some of the collected boxes..
I have pulled out some of the boxes and started to play with them, and this is what I have come up with so far...
I have always loved playing with paper and these ones have been so much fun to make.  I am sure they will come in handy at christmas time for putting pressies in..  I still have some more to play with and I will put them up too when I have done them..
Now moving away from paper craft - while I was on holiday in New Zealand I found some time to do a little bit of stitching..  I prepped this before I went to make it easy to pull out... I am planning on turning it into a wall hanging..
I have also, lately been turning my Natalie Bird quilt blocks into wall hangings instead of making another quilt.. Here is one of them..
I have also prepped all my Welcome Home blocks but I am planning on taking them with me on my next retreat to blanket stitch..
My Lucy Boston blocks have been getting some attention lately too...
Well that's all for my show n tell - moving on to todays get together...
Teresa supplied a yummy morning tea today and while you are checking out the food on the board - take note of her lovely cheese knives...
Helen finished her  gorgeous wall hanging today, so we were able to take a photo of it...
We had another fabulous day and as the girls were leaving today, I noticed some mail in my letterbox, and to my delight, these pretty washi tapes had arrived...  I was hoping they would arrive so I could admire them and  now that I have them in my mitts I am really looking forward to playing with them...
That's all today...
