Spending Time With Loved Ones

Well this year is coming to an end, and as I reflect back on 2013, I think to myself - what a year..
So many things have happened this year and not only around me and my family but around other families as well.  This year has been full of the typical ups and downs of life but the one thing that I keep coming back to is not where I have been or what I have bought or eaten for that matter, but who I have spent time with.....family and friends...
I love the time I have spent with my family and my friends and I am hoping next year will be full of
more time spent with them..
Yes you may have guessed it,  I am feeling rather sombre this morning, so I will not ramble on like I usually do, but please everyone, have a great new year and make time for your friends and family, they are more important than anything else.

Yesterday I got to spend the day with two of my friends, one of which is in for the fight of her life.
I have known these two scallywags for a very long time and they mean a great deal to me...
I usually refer to them as my shopping friends because we are brutally honest with each other when asking that time old question - does my butt look big in this???
The strange looks we would get from others when all three of us would pop out of a dressing room wearing the exact same outfit...laughing our heads off to boot...and discussing which one of us the outfit suited the most......priceless..
Anyhow here is a photo of myself and my partners in crime....we were unable to get our usual Christmas photo together this time round so a hospital one it is...
Left to right...Lynne, Chrissa, and me (Sandi)...
Have a fantastic new year everyone and may all your dreams and wishes come true...xxx

Something Special under the tree...a beautiful wall hanging... This gorgeous wall hanging was waiting for me, yes me...no one else, just me...

I sent my gifts to Liz (no blogger) and have just realised that I have forgotten to take photos of them...silly me...don't tell The Tuesday Girls, they think I am so organised and I don't want to tarnish my reputation..lol  Oh and thank you Maree for organising such a great swap..

I am lucky enough to be part of an on-line sewing group - Friends In Stitching, and this years swap consisted of one main present and five smaller ones (with the letters SANTA)..
My swap partner was Dzintra and I was a very good girl cause this is what I received..

N is for...Nativity...a lovely printed panel, my thoughts are already plotting ideas of uses for this..
T is for Treat....Some yummy Australian made choc chip cookies...these didn't last 24hrs in our house...mmmm cookies..
A is for Angel...a lovely angel wallhanging, isn't she cute, and lovely chrissy fabrics too..
And the piece of resistance....my main gift under the tree is this beautiful sewing bag with matching needle case, pin cushion, scissor case, scissors and fob...wow did I hit the jackpot...thank you Dzintra, I love these gifts, the colours are beautiful...
Here is what I sent my partner...Leanne...
S is for Santa Tea towel.

T is for Treat - choc macadamias
A is for Angel bookmark..
And the main Present...a little friend to keep her company....
Ok so now I have one more swap left...
This is Chooky's Secret Santa Swap and my partner was from Carin of Sweden...she has made me a beautiful table runner, in lots of lovely colours and prints...thank you Carin...I already have a place for this as soon as I can clear some of the chrissy decorations away....Thank you Carin for my gift and thank you chooky for organising this swap...
Sorry the table runner is folded but it is quite large and I had a lot of trouble getting a good close up of the colours and fabrics....

Well that's it for me....time to sit back, ponder over all my gifts from the day and just purr quietly in the corner...
I think I can hear some left of trifle calling me, can't you?
cya all next year...

The Tuesday Girls Christmas Party

Today we had our Christmas party and I guess, break up for the year...I am at a loss of words today, so much laughing, eating, pressies, that I can hardly sit up straight..my eyes want to shut, if only for a little while, am soooo tired but it was totally worth it..
Here is a close up...
Just look at this table...what a mess...I will tell you the truth...its all their mess, not mine, no way, couldn't possibly belong to me....

There is always one who can not control themselves and surprisingly it is not Helen this time, sorry Helen, but today it was Norreen.
Norreen is showing off her moustache, doesn't she look lovely...
This year we decorated a bon bon each...inside we had to put one of each of the following...
a fat eighth of fabric, a button, a piece of ribbon/ricrac, a chrissy item (earings, decoration) and something to eat...
Here they all are...they were so pretty that it seemed a pity to open them...but we did...
Sorry it wasn't a good photo...
This is what I found inside my bon bon..
Now for the pressies...I must have been a REAL good girl this year because I received heaps of wonderful pressies or I just know how to fake it...
Teresa gave me this beautiful eggcup with matching salt shaker and spoon...can you see the pattern on them.....roses, my favourite flower...
She also gave me a beautiful smelling soap and a packet of Snowman Poo..Thank You Cassie...
Helen gave me this beautiful sugar bowl and creamer....this is going to look GREAT on my bookshelf...move over chrissy decorations..  I cant wait to use these...Thank You Helen.
Norreens present is up next...She gave me two beautiful signs and a hand painted cotton reel...I wanted to hang these up straight away but all my hooks have Christmas items on them...I will just have to wait, not an easy task for someone like me...Thank you Norreen.
Now for Tereasa, I can see a theme happening here, have you noticed yet...lol
Tereasa gave me this lovely sign that goes with the delicious box of chocolate..very apt don't you think...and look at the decoration I am holding up.   It is a Christmas tree with bells and little painted pine cones on it...I don't want to hang this on my tree because it will disappear amongst all the other decorations, so I will need to find the perfect spot for it....Thank you Tereasa...
Last but not least is this gift from Laurel...it is a melting clock, it hangs off a shelf and looks like it has melted in the heat...There are also three chocolates and a mouse candy cane...I think the clock  will look good in the lounge room, I don't have a clock in there so it will be very handy.  Thank you Laurel...
We had an extra surprise today...Lynda sent us ALL a homemade Christmas cake each...omg, thank you Lynda, it was such a wonderful surprise and a yummy one too...
Hubby and I are going to share it with coffee tonight, a perfect end to a perfect day...

Well that's it for today...I am sitting here, reflecting on today and thinking how lucky I am to be surrounded by such lovely friends and that includes some bloggy friends too..
Good night all and I hope everyone is having a great day too....bye

Helen's Birthday Celebration

Helen, we just cant keep celebrating days like this....I am all laughed out, dinner looks like being a miss tonight (still full from lunch), and all I want to do is go to bed, and its only 4 o'clock...
But it was good, wasn't it...
Today we all went to Devon Pixies for a high tea to celebrate Helen's @#$% th birthday...all of the Tuesday Girls were able to make it today which made it an extra special day...
This is what we all look like, very well dressed and trying to behave like ladies...
But you see, behaving ones self only last so long (2 minutes in our case) and then we have to let our true selves come out..
Teresa and myself giving Helen some antlers and poor Tess in the middle not even game to smile incase she gets the blame for our stunt too... Don't let her innocent face fool you, she was in the middle of it all and loving it...
Can you see Helen's special birthday cupcake in front of her..yum and you wont be able to see it but there is a miniature teapot on the plate beside the cake, she gets to take this home as a keepsake..
Maybe if we ask her nicely, she will put a photo of it up on her blog...and while you are there Helen,
can you take a photo of what I had made you...silly me forgot to take one...
Here are the non birthday girls cupcakes...mmmm they were delicious....peppermint and chocolate top with strawberries and wafer sticks and cream cheese frosting....do I need to say any more...I think
NOT...
Well that's it, I am so tired that I am making too many typing mistakes and keep having to delete words and retype them....so Happy Birthday again dear friend, I hope you have had a wonderful day, I know I did...
I will add a photo of my gift later....if Helen remembers that I want a photo.    lol

A Big Day Out

Warning -The following blog contains no sewing or stitching or crafting...just lotsa photos of my youngest daughter and my grandson...so I will not mind if you wish to skip reading todays story..

Yesterday I took my daughter and grandson for a shopping expedition...while walking around we found this..
It's a huge snowglobe that you can walk into and play in the snow (well not quite snow), it was hard to get a photo through the wall of the dome but you get the idea.

He absolutely loved it...They kept picking up the fake snow and throwing it everywhere...what a great idea.

Imagine if you could keep your loved ones in snowglobes...at least the house would stay clean..lol
Then it was off to the movies...this was his first time to the - Big Tv - so I wasn't sure how he was going to handle it..
We saw Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2...
All set and waiting for the movie to start..
He behaved himself relatively well...the theatre was pretty empty so no one seemed to mind when he wanted to walk around the seats...thank heavens we were in a kids movie..

Later that night we went for a walk to a home that had been decorated for Christmas..fortunately it was not to far from where he lives..
This place was decorated everywhere...it was set up so you could walk around the front yard and even look inside their windows (a bit of voyeurism goes on here)..
This is a photo of what I can only presume as being in their spare bedroom..I know its not a good photo - so hard taking photos with all the lights and through glass windows, and yes I did feel a bit like a peeping tom - taking photos while peering in someones windows..
Here is a photo of the lounge room.  I fell in love with these three snowmen sitting in an umbrella.  You cant see it properly but at the top of the umbrella handle water sprays down on them like rain.
Here is another part of the lounge room...
The top part of the front yard..   I think I saw three train sets - one outside and two inside..
Looking at the garage,  inside the gargage there is a sled that you can sit in and take a photo.  We tried this out but unfortunately my camera didn't like all the lights in there and the photos kept coming out blurry..

Some people go to so much effort at Christmas time but the looks on the kids faces, and the adults come to think of it, is - as you would say - Priceless..
One the way home we called in to see the monuments that have been erected at Logan Village.
I have seen these while driving past but never stopped to actually see them up close and personal.
They are kinda like those lamps you can buy that change colour while you watch them..so these monuments kept changing colour...unfortunately to see the pretty colour means you cannot read the labels but we did manage to read a couple...they are all of local people that use to live in the area.
And I can tell you - it is a bit eerie standing beside these imagining that they were once standing in this very spot themselves, kinda like ghosts.   They are all lifesize and you can walk around them.
Here is a couple of photos...

I am keen to go back and read the labels properly, instead of by phone lighting...for anyone that doesn't know Logan Village very well then imagine a tiny town with one pub, a couple of shops and being surrounded by bush and that's what this place looks like.  So it is weird - but nice - to have these ghosts just standing there, in the park, watching over the locals..
I was very impressed and would recommend anyone to just take the time and stop and have a look...
Ok that's it for me, I did say it was a big day and I have lots to do today too...so I will catchya all later.
xx
