Baby Shower

We had a baby shower at our home two days after christmas....you can imagine what it was like at our house on boxing day.   The whole house had to be de-christmasfied before the baby shower...
What an effort, but I will have to give special thanks to my hubby because he helped me from start to
finish....and never complained once....Thanks sweetheart...
Here is a blurry photo of my eldest daughter.   Our second grandchild (or grandson) is due in late
February or early March...  Elle is a one of the rare people that gets Colistasis (I think that is how you spell it) and this usually occurs in the third trimester.   Anyhow because of this, we are not sure when bub is actually due.   Last time the doctors pumped her with steroids for the baby's lungs and injections  to stop her body treating the foetus as an unwanted visitor .. It all went well and therefore three years ago we had our first grandson born.   This will be grandson number two.. He is due to arrive on the 22nd March but because of her condition, he will be taken two or three weeks early, depending on how long mums body will put up with him...
Anyhow, Elle is a fantastic mother and my grandson is just gorgeous (I am bias), but he truly can do no wrong....lol   I am so looking forward to meeting grandson number 2...patience is not something I am very good at..
Back to the Baby Shower...wish I had taken more photos...
This is a pretty little sign, which Elle made herself, asking for suggested names for the baby.   I did mention that I was going to swap all the names out and put in my favourite ones...
Cute little fox, isn't he...this is the theme for the nursery...
Food...this is a small sample of what was on offer...  yoghurts with fruit, granola, homemade bikkies, chocolate scones, fruit platters, dips, etc etc etc...(mental note - I had better start walking to sewing days)...   We had drinks in mason jars with pretty straws, juices and of course tea and coffees..
What a lovely day, one I will remember forever....and the food was yummy, of course...
I have informed Elle that she can not have the baby between February 16 to 19 or March 5 to 9 due to quilting retreats...any other day either side will work out just perfect for me...lol
Alright going now...catchya all in the new year...

Friends In Stitching Christmas Swap

The on-line sewing group that I have the privilege  of being a part of, has a secret santa swap for christmas...
My swap partner this year was Jenny, of http://jensstitching.blogspot.com.au/.   Jenny sent me some beautiful gifts for christmas..
The main present was this gorgeous floral covered basket, with heaps of pockets inside.   I found it very challenging getting a good photo of it because of its size, very hard to show all the detail...
Inside there are pockets all the way round...
There was also a block of chocolate inside the basket but it had no chance on making it to the photo shoot...
The lovely stitching bag is to hold my stitchery and necessities in.....the chocolates are just for eating (I think I can handle that).
Part of the swap was to include a stitchery for me to finish before an undecided date in 2015...
I could not wait to get stuck into it...here it is on my lap as I take a moment in time for myself...
I am not sure how many times I have picked it up with a yearning to start it, but had to put it back down for lack of time...
I finally found some time....all finished.   Not sure what I want to turn it into yet, but I think it is purrfect...   Maybe if I turn it into a christmas ornie then I could cherish it each year I put up the tree/s.  Thanks Jenny, I love all my pressies...hubby wants to send thanks for the choccies too.
Looking forward to catching up in 2015.   Hope your christmas was great...
Love
Me

Christmas with the Kids..

Christmas is always a noisy affair at our house.  With five of our own kids and two partners and one grandchild, it can get pretty chaotic here...
We had a special visitor on christmas day, Santa stayed for a little while to hand deliver the pressies underneath the tree..
Here is my eldest son, yes I know, stop laughing and I might get a clearer photo..
Middle Son sitting on santa's knee...we started with some of the big kids so the grandson would not be so scared of santa...
Grandson's turn, "just chuck the pressie here santa, I am not coming any closer"..
After he received a couple of pressies, he was in full swing on how the santa thing works..
Each time you sit on santa's knee, you get another pressie...
Grandson checking out some of his gifts...
Wayne, Elle, Keelan and James having a laugh about something...probably about the fact that Elle, my eldest daughter, vandalised my christmas trees without me knowing...
About three weeks prior to christmas, my so called daughter added a couple of paper cut-outs to my decorations...this 'grafitti' was right under my nose and I didn't notice once...
I took this photo to show you just what she had done....Miley Cyrus cut outs swinging on my baubles...you just can not trust anyone these days.....revenge is sweet...
After dinner, the kids went outside to play with some sparklers and glow sticks, so I could tidy up a little.   They were suppose to be for the grandson but you know what it's like, the big kids wanted to play too...
Well christmas is over for another year and I was pretty exhausted afterwards.   Probably why posting on my blog has taken a back seat...
I hope everyone has had a wonderful christmas and have all been given a good dose of energy to help with completing all your "To Do Lists"...
Merry Christmas all.

Visitor from Abroad - well ok - Tasmania

Just before christmas we had the lovely (infamous) Cathy, of Tasmania (from the On-line Friends In Stitching group), visit the Gold Coast.  Now being so close we just could not let the opportunity go by without catching up...we decided to meet at Jupiter Casino for lunch...
After lunch Cathy tried to teach us the art of the 'selfie'...and you all thought I was going to say 'eating' but then you all know The Tuesday Girls need no help in that department...
It is very hard to keep a straight face with this going on, I kept laughing so much that most of my
photos are blurry....(mental note - that could be why my photos in the past have been blurry, might not need a new camera after all...)..
I must admit, Cathy did take some very nice photos of us...we look like butter wouldn't melt in our mouths...
Quite a handsome looking group, if I do say so myself...
Thank you, Cathy, for taking time out of your holiday to come and meet us...It was lovely catching up, laughing, eating and learning to do the 'selfie', oh and your chocies were divine...can't wait to
do it again...
Cheers

Welcome To My Home

Now this post will be more for my benefit than yours.  You see I have this theory that if I take heaps of photos around the house then next year I will spend less time working out where everything should go because I will have a record of it.   Well that's the idea anyway...
I will start with my mantle - I have always loved how stockings look hanging from fire places but unfortunately I did not have one so hubby made me one.  He also made a stocking pole to hang the excess ones on.  I love it so much I am thinking of leaving it up all year for somewhere to display my other non-christmas treasures on.

This is my grandsons toy box.  The pressies are fake too... Made with laser cut foam and then encased
In thick cardboard (another project aided by hubby) and then decorated with pretty papers and ribbon.

Same room....a Christmas display showing off some of my favourite pieces..

I have a collection of table runners with nowhere to put them, so I have used them to decorate chairs for some cute teddies to rest on.

The same area - Santa has been wearing my Christmas hat so I don't lose it...
Another spare table runner...

Family room - my wall unit.

More Christmas trees - aka Maci's play area... Lol

Same room - display of hand made items....

The wood heater....

The bookcase....

Nutcrackers on top of the bookcase ...

My all time, absolutely favourite piece... Hubby gave me this several years ago and each year while I am unpacking it, I hold my breath and hope that I haven't broken anything off... So far so good...

Angels for the backs of chairs....

The hallway...

My youngest daughter wanted to do this spot, I think she just might have gotten some of my creative genes...

Entrance area...

Now it has taken me weeks to get the front yard decorated but I have finally done it...this would not have been possible without the help of a special friend - De....without her thoughtful and totally unexpected gift I would have nothing to show... Thank you De, it looks great...

This year, as you might have noticed, we bought a Santa costume.  We have been having so much fun with it....every year we give to kids next door pressies and this year was no exception, except for them being delivered by Santa himself...  It was such a blast, they had no idea and couldn't take their eyes off of him....the three year old didn't cry but was keeping a very good distance from him... I think this will be an annual event...   We had to sneak over through the back side gate, hubby was worried if he walked outside the front gate that other kids in the street might mug him...lol

I think next year I will buy a new camera.  I have not been happy with my photos of late, using either my mini iPad or iPhone to take them.   But they are not as good as they use to be in the past when I used an ordinary camera... Does anyone else have this problem or is it time to get new glasses?
That's all
Merry Christmas everyone.

Santa Sack Swap

I have been involved in an on-line 'Santa Sack Swap' hosted by the lovely Cheryll of Gone' Stitchin..
Opening day finally came round and I could open my gifts...
Melody of - House on the side of the  Hill - was my swap partner and we each had to make something for each other...
I can tell you that Melody has spoilt me rotten....we had a choice of choosing a stocking, sack or bag to be made by the other person.   Both of us chose sacks.   I was so excited having Melody as my partner as I do stalk her blog often, so I felt that I already knew her personally. Bonus..
Here is the beautiful sack she made using gorgeous Anni Downs fabrics.  It may not look it in the photo but it is huge and it was full of pressies..
One of the pressies was the sweet little reindeer, he is perfect and puts a smile on my face every time I look at him...
I unwrapped this beautiful wall hanging next....another wowsa...I love it Melody.

I have taken a few photos of my pressies because I just could not fit them all in one or two shots..
Here is a photo of a beautifully stitched and embellished apron, snowman ice-cube tray and two tea towels.   The tea towel on the top is too pretty to use (especially with my kids around), so I am going to save it for Christmas day (for display purposes only)...that way I can put it out every year...

But wait - there's more....a pretty tin full of buttons, some much needed pins, a gorgeous little pillow (too good to stick pins in), and two Christmas ornaments with wooden 'buttons' on them...
I did say that she had done a fabulous job of my present and I wasn't joking...

But wait - there's more....now this one blew me away....I have always wanted to get my hands on a Michelle Palmer drawing, and had planned on adding it to my 'want list' for 2015.  I don't know how Melody knew that but she gave me one of her sketches...
Melody has attached it to a peace of board and then added a little wooden easel to show it off...
Words cannot describe how special I feel at receiving this gift, I will treasure it forever Melody,
thank you heaps and heaps....

Well that's it for me, I am going now to hang my ornies, place my sack under the tree (for others to admire), hang my wall hanging up, clear my bedside table (this could take some time) so I can place my Michelle Palmer front row centre...and then to hide my tea towels (from the kids)..etc
Thank you again Melody, I will be your swap partner anytime....
Oh I forgot to take a photo of the goodie pressie - chocolates, teas, hot chocolate and cappuccino..
Yep definitely spoilt....
cheers

ps...not sure why blogger keeps putting spaces between my writings...it looks ok in draft form but then puts lots of gaps when published...weird...

The Tuesday Girls Christmas Party

Well it's that time of the year again where we celebrate our Christmas for another year...
I am sitting here, shaking my head, wondering how the year could possibly have gone past so fast...
Anyhow, I am going to start with this photo of us at our local "Café on Cusack", why, well just because I think it is a great photo...  Never a dull moment when you are with these girls and today was no exception..
We started the day at my place, a little morning tea before our lunch..  Last year we had so much fun
filling a Bon Bon for a swap that we decided to do it again this year...
There are always rules for swaps and our Bon Bon swap was no different...
Inside your Bon Bon there had to be 5 things...a fat eighth of Christmas fabric, with a Christmas button to match your fabric, 30 cm ribbon, an ornament and of course a treat...
After last year, we found this year a lot easier...a little knowledge of how to stuff place your goodies inside the Bon Bon goes a long way...
We started with a plain red non-constructed Bon Bon, in which we all had to decorate as well as filling it...   Here are our finished Bon Bons...very impressive, and having them decorated so pretty makes it really hard to want to break into it...but 'pop' it we must...
A photo of what was in the one I received is later down this post...

The girls outdid themselves this year and I think I have scored received big time...all the gifts were beautiful...
Here is what I was given by Norreen....a gorgeous zipper bag (love this fabric) and a beautiful Dusk tea-light penguin,  a pretty coffee cup (already in use), a gorgeous tree ornament, a bag of chocolates (sorry already eaten) and a gingerbread man tea towel...
I love them heaps Nor, Thank you....xxx

From Teresa I received this beautiful 'rose' plate, three gorgeous sewing themed fabrics, a mason jar fill with a yummy cookie recipe and a pretty Christmas tree ornament...
Thanks Teresa, I can't wait to use my plate but I might save the mason jar cookies for later (it looks to pretty to open)...Love them heaps... xxx

Helen has outdone herself in the gift department too... just look at my gorgeous plate - it feels and looks like a doily and as a bonus has a rose on it...oops I have covered it up, sorry.   Helen also gave me a Dusk Christmas scented candle (I am going to save this for our family Christmas get together) , but that's not all, I also received a beautiful heart doily (this goes well with my candle)...
Thank you Helen, I love my gifts too....xxx

Now you wouldn't know it by our blogs but there is another Tuesday Girl who has been
missing from our group get togethers a lot this year.  Tereasa does have a lame good excuse - something to do with having to work but we forgive her..(just....lol).
Tereasa gave all of us - now your not to laugh - and no we don't stink (most of the time), a bottle of
Poo-Pourre.  Yep you read that right....I have checked the you tube video out on it, and you apparently spray it in the dunny toilet and magically your s#@t wont stink...lol
I will confess that I have not used it yet, but I will take it on retreat with me next year...you never know - it may just come in handy....lol    Tess also gave me this beautiful ornament and some yummy lindt chocolates (sorry - already eaten).  Thank you Tess, Love your pressies, hope you will have some more spare time next year, we would love to see you more...xxx

I know you are all waiting with baited breath to know what I got inside my Bon Bon...well here it is..
Not a great photo but you can see the pretty Christmas fabric under everything, two candy canes, a chrissy tree button, red ribbon and a stocking ornament, paper hat and joke, oh and the snap...
I am convince that we should get an award or something for the sheer talent that is needed to get all
this stuff inside the Bon Bon...as trying as it was it is definitely fun....

After our morning tea and pressie opening, we all headed down to the café for lunch.  It doesn't happen very often but today we all chose the same meal...(maybe we are spending too much time with each other - nah not possible)...
Chicken, Pear and Cashew salad.   It was delicious...I would order this again without hesitation...

What did we have for dessert?.....well I am glad you asked....why Plum Pudding and Brandied Custard of course...after all it is Christmas....(not that we have ever needed an excuse to eat anything)..

That all for tonight.  I am feeling a bit worn out (had the grandson over for a sleep over last night), and he has gone home now, so I am able to catch up on some blogging...I am get a little behind and I hopefully will catch up in the next day or two...or three...
Thanks girls for your friendship - this is worth more than all the pressies in the world...I love you girls heaps...xx
cheers all
